Welcome to Hibiscus Haiti

Welcome to Hibiscus Haiti... In business since 2002, this business was envisioned by Therese Abraham. During her life she inspired and provided the strength and drive needed to put this dream into motion. Now in her memory we continue to work with my fellow Haitians to provide support for Haitian artists and the Haitian economy. Keep in mind that each piece is hand crafted by the artist creating each item to vary slightly. Please inquire about special orders, international shipping and we can combine shipping for multiple purchases. We will be adding extra features over the next few months, so come back regularly.

METAL ART Welcome Sign Crab Imported from HAITI
Handpainted in Brilliant Colors, This Gorgeous Import From Haiti Will Brighten and Beautify Any Room! Great for the Entryway, Kids Room, Kitchen, Bath or Just About Any Place. This Playful Piece, with its Large Eyes and Vibrant Colors is Just Waiting to be Displayed. It Measures 18" L and 13" W. A Wonderful Gift Idea for Any Occasion. HISTORY The hand painted metal tropical wall art that you find at Hibiscus Haiti is hand cut from recycled steel 55 gallon drums. The drum has been cleaned, halved and beat into flat sheets by hand. The pattern is then drawn onto the metal to be skillfully cut with hammer and chisel into the desired shape. Then the true sculpting of the piece begins. Using a variety of chisels, the lines of definition are carefully applied in all of the right places, certain parts are pounded to round out the body of the piece. They are done mostly in a town called "CROIX DES BOUQUETS" in Haiti. This art form was developed in the fifties by Georges Liataud. Plants, animals and the integration of folklore are popular motifs. When complete, a rust preventive paint is applied and then the painted artwork begins. Striving toward realism and high quality you will find our tropical art designs something that you will be proud to display in your home or garden
